About Us
In Memoriam - Vida Bing
The Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire has been in existence since 1973. We are one of the oldest gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered organizations in the state of Colorado. Many of the major cities in the western United States and Canada have a “Court System” in their community. In essence, we are a chapter in an international organization.
The Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire, or ICRME, has expanded during its existence. During this time we have broadened our definition of community to read as the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community. We continue to hold functions for the enjoyment of this community. Most importantly we have remained committed to raising money for charitable organizations and help those in our communities who are in need of assistance.
Emperor John and Myself are deeply saddened by the passing of Vida Bing, Grand Dame Fairy God Mother to all Empresses for Life.
For those of you who did not know her, she brightened every color of the rainbow one hundred times over. Vida was a hard working energetic member of our organization for many years doing everything and anything to enhance our mission and help us grow.
Vida became involved in the fifteenth reign and kept going strong until the end. Just a couple weeks ago on January 2, 2010 she hosted her annual Twelfth Night fundraiser at BJs Carousel for Project Angel Heart. She told us all when she booked the event it would be her last show due to health reasons. I am so glad that Emperor John and myself got to able to share the evening with her along with so many others who came out to support and entertain.
I know we will miss her colorful stories, flamboyant outfits and her contagious smile.
Many of us could tell you our personal stories about Vida and if you ask us we will. As Empress XIX I had the honor to give my permanent title to Vida (Grand Dame Fairy God Mother to all Empresses for Life). This title incorporated my permanent title from Empress Chenelle and of course Vidas Fairy God Mother personality.
I know she will be missed by her family and friends here in Denver and across the Imperial Court circuit. She made many friends traveling with us to many Coronations with her warm smile, her magic wand and fairy dust ( and yes she carried glitter with her to promote her power)!
With her fairy dust and wand in hand I am sure she was greeted by friends and loved ones that left us all to soon also. But now she begins a new journey to spread her magic while continuing to watch over us and drop that magic fairy dust when needed.
We love you Vida!!
